ACCT names apprenticeship winners

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television has announced the winners of its National Apprenticeship Training Program, which gives up-and-coming filmmakers the opportunity to get hands-on experience in their area of focus.

The program, launched in 1984, seeks to place graduating film and television students in industry companies for a 12-week training program that includes an honorarium. Those interested in working with one of this year’s apprentices are asked to call the Academy’s national office.

This year’s apprentices include Ontario’s Adam Crosby for cinematography and Nova Scotia’s Brett Hannam for directing. Among writing-focused recipients are B.C.’s Adam Higgs, while Keunyoung Yoo of Ontario was selected for composing/music.

ACCT has sponsored more than 234 apprentices through the program, which is supported by organizations including Canadian Heritage, Kodak Canada and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
