The Canadian Film Centre recognized the outstanding contribution volunteers have made to this year’s student short-film productions, which were screened June 2 at Toronto’s Varsity Cinemas.
The training institution presented its CFC Short Dramatic Film Program Payback Awards to four individuals, including Timothy Hay, who worked as a production assistant, driver, third AD and production manager on four of the films, and Lyudmila Genkova, script supervisor on three of the productions.
Also winning was Linda Ferguson, VP and GM of Toronto Film Studios, which supplies soundstage space to CFC filmmakers, and Ron Haney, CEO and executive director of the Directors Guild of Canada Ontario, who was thanked for his support of CFC training programs.
The awards, introduced 13 years ago, are sponsored by Playback, and were presented by CFC executive director Slawko Klymkiw and Playback editor Mark Dillon. The CFC turns 20 this year, and has plans for celebrations later in the year.
