Peace Arch Entertainment has bought the North American rights to What We Do Is Secret, a punk rock biopic starring Shane West and Bijou Phillips. West (A Walk to Remember) stars as Darby Crash, frontman of the L.A. band The Germs and short-lived punk icon who killed himself in 1980. It has been on the festival circuit since last year, playing in Los Angeles, Calgary and Cleveland to positive reviews.

Peace Arch will release it in New York on Aug. 8, taking it to Chicago and back to L.A. in the following weeks.

It is directed by Rodger Grossman and co-written by Grossman and Michelle Baer Ghaffari, and produced by Grossman, Kevin Mann, Stephen Nemeth, Matthew Perniciaro and Todd Traina.
