Peace Arch Entertainment came back from Cannes with more than 30 deals in place, sending movies and TV shows including the teen call girl comedy The Babysitters, the Sudz Sutherland-directed mini Guns and its recent crime drama The Last Hit Man across Europe and Asia.
Babysitters — with John Leguizamo, which arrived in North American theaters earlier this month — was picked up by Alliance Entertainment in Singapore, by Videovision Entertainment in South Africa and Tandem in Bulgaria. Tandem also took The Last Hit Man, Guns, the MOW Luna: Spirit of the Whale and lower-shelf titles including Animal 2 with Ving Rhames.
Videovision was one of several buyers for the romantic comedy The Deal, with William H. Macy and Meg Ryan, which also found a home in Scandinavia with Scanbox, Iceland with Myndform and with South Korea’s Worriful Venture Capital.
Other titles sold at the festival include the drama Winged Creatures with Forest Whitaker, the Tom Green comedies Shred and Shred 2 ,and the horror-thriller Devil’s Mercy, which stars Stephen Rea.
In other Peace Arch news, the Toronto company recently named Paul ‘Bateman’ Davis-Miller to the new position of SVP of U.S. distribution and development, reporting to president and COO John Flock.
