CTV has set dates for its summertime runs of Instant Star and The Hills, putting the music-minded series by Epitome Pictures next to the top-rated MTV show, which will make its conventional network debut on June 1.
The Hills will bow on CTV that Sunday at 7 p.m., then move to its regular time slot at 7:30 p.m. on June 8. In the one-hour season premiere, ‘Paris Changes Everything,’ lead characters Lauren and Whitney take a glamorous trip to Paris for Teen Vogue to attend an international gala for debutantes. (All times Eastern.)
The move to 7:30 makes room for season four of the Toronto-shot Instant Star, which will lead into The Hills. Three new rising stars have joined the cast: Kyle Riabko, who recently landed the lead role in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening, Cassie Steele (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Tatiana Maslany (Sabbatical, Flash of Genius).
Episodes from this season will be made available the day after broadcast on iTunes. Instant Star will also extend its brand with 11 new companion webisodes on CTV.ca and, as in earlier years, a compilation CD set of season four tunes will be released.
Also on CTV, Gossip Girl will be back with five new episodes beginning Friday, May 30 at 9 p.m. Based on the best-selling series of young-adult novels, and executive produced by Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The O.C. ) and Canadian Stephanie Savage (The O.C. ), GG is a one-hour drama about the lives of privileged Manhattan prep school teens. Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Michelle Trachtenberg joins the cast in the new eps.
