If only Don McKellar would strip to the waist and paint himself green, it would be easier for Canadian movies to get noticed during the summer rush. (Or, if he’s not available, how about Peter Kelaghan? Steve Smith?) Sadly, no such luck. And so we ask:
Do you plan to see any Canadian movies this summer? Any at all?
I am definitely going to see Young People Fucking. With Bill C-10 hanging over our heads, it may be our only chance to see a Canadian film with some profanity in the title. We better lock up our sons and daughters to make sure their eyes are protected!

I loathed The Stone Angel when I was a young smartass being force-fed Margaret Laurence in high school. Will definitely see the movie version to give it another chance now that I’m older if not wiser.

I’m very excited to see Blindness with Sandra Oh. [Also, next year], Vincenzo Natali’s Splice – as I read the script and it’s great and I have a tiny part playing a Jamaican-loving Japanese security guard named Yuji. Also The Rise and Fall of Grumpy Burger by Matt Gallagher, which just played at Hot Docs.

I’m all about cheap thrills when it comes to Hollywood, so Iron Man is near the top of my summer list, as is Wanted with Angelina Jolie.

I stopped watching Canadian movies after Bob Clark’s Black Christmas.
