Seville International is taking Léa Pool to Cannes, or her latest film at least. The Montreal shop on Friday announced it has picked up the international rights to her new title, Mommy is at the Hairdresser’s, and will take it to market next week at the French festival.
The French-language period piece (original title: Ma mère est chez le coiffeur) involves an adolescent girl who experiences a bittersweet summer when her mother goes away to work. It shot last summer in Montreal on a $4.3-million budget, starring Marianne Fortier (Aurore), Céline Bonnier, Gabriel Arcand and Laurent Lucas.
Lyse Lafontaine produces with Michael Mosca of Equinoxe Productions. The picture arrived in Quebec theaters through Equinoxe Films.
