• The National Film Board signed a handful of deals at MIPTV, selling The Wild Horse Redemption, Triage: Dr. James Orbinski’s Humanitarian Dilemma and Confessions of an Innocent Man to Sundance Channel, with home video rights on Redemption and Triage also going to New Video. A host of European deals also included sales of Weather Report, Dead in the Water, Humanima and Arctic Mission. Indonesia’s Metro TV, meanwhile, picked up Oscar winner Ryan and also-ran Madame Tutli-Putli.

Also at MIP, Peace Arch Entertainment Group closed television and DVD deals on 18 titles in 14 territories. Guns went to territories from Spain to Australia, while new titles Never Cry Werewolf, The Last Hit Man and Ace of Hearts landed in Europe, the U.K. and the Middle East. Other shows sold include the lifestyle series Bulging Brides, Guantanamero, Devil’s Mercy and Watching the Detectives.

• DHX Media has sold the first season of Kid vs. Kat to Jetix U.S., closing a deal for the 26 x 30 kids series with Global, which has also asked for a second season of The Guard. The animated series was greenlit in January by YTV and is produced by DHX-owned Studio B Productions.

• Family Channel has bought the exclusive domestic broadcast rights to the MOW franchise Roxy Hunter, and will air the first installment, Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of the Moody Ghost, on May 19.

• Asian Television Network has landed the broadcasting rights for cricket games of the newly launched Indian Premier League.

• Cineplex Entertainment is adding 38 theaters in Western Canada to its inventory for on-screen ads and backlit posters after signing a deal with Calgary-based Landmark Cinemas, bringing Cineplex Media’s total screens to 2,361. The agreement includes the rollout of digital pre-show representation in the second quarter of this year.
