Global Television and NBC on Friday announced they have greenlighted an unscripted comedy series that will star and be produced by Howie Mandel, host of the hit game show Deal or No Deal.

With the working title Howie Do It, the series will be filmed in Canada, and simulcast by both networks during the 2008/09 season.

‘We are thrilled to be co-commissioning this project with NBC from Howie Mandel’s production company,’ said Canwest EVP Barbara Williams in a statement. ‘Following the enormous success of Deal or No Deal Canada on Global last year, and the continued appeal of the original series Deal or No Deal, we are excited to be the exclusive Canadian broadcasting partner for this brand new series.’

Mandel’s Alevy Production will work in association with 3 Arts Entetainment. Mandel, Scott Hallock (Scare Tactics), Kevin Healey (Spy TV), Morgan Elliot and Michael Rotenberg are the executive producers.

‘America loves Howie and we’re so lucky to have another great show that will showcase his unique signature humor,’ added NBC EVP of alternative programming Craig Plestis.
