Peace Arch Entertainment plans to bolster its TV production arm, and in a recent year-end talk with analysts indicated it will produce fewer lower-margin direct-to-DVD movies and more theatrical releases with higher-profile talent.
CEO Jeff Sagansky also hinted at a third and possibly fourth season of The Tudors, the historical drama seen on Showtime and CBC, that the Toronto company coproduces with Ireland. Season two went to air on Showtime in February, and is due on CBC in 2008/09.
Its main character, King Henry VIII, ‘only had six wives. There’s a natural limit. But there’s a couple more seasons in it,’ Sagansky said.
