• Claude Galipeau is now VP of interactive at Astral Media. The former Alliance Atlantis exec will help develop Astral’s digital strategy for its core radio, TV and outdoor advertising businesses, reporting to CEO Ian Greenberg.

• Canwest has lost Zev Shalev, who has jumped ship to CBS to run The Early Show. The ET Canada exec and longtime ally of Canwest’s Barb Williams has been hired as senior broadcast producer for the morning news program.

• TVA Films has named Brian Ware as its director of marketing for English Canada. He takes over for Karynn Austin, who left for Equinoxe Films earlier this year, and will be based in Toronto.

• Doug Smith has moved over to sales at Sullivan Entertainment. The former Alliance Atlantis EVP is now responsible for all worldwide sales of theatrical and television programming at the Toronto shop.

• CBC has added former Canadian soccer captain Jason De Vos to its on-air team. De Vos previously worked as an analyst for CBC’s coverage of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. CBC’s coverage of the new major league soccer season kicks off April 5.

• Mike Piperni will join RDS in May as news executive producer, taking over editorial coordination and newsroom training for the French-language sportscaster. He was most recently director of news and public affairs at CTV Montreal.

• French-language travel and tourism channel Canal Evasion has hired Roselyne Brouillet as its head of acquisitions and original productions. Brouillet was most recently director of international sales and acquisitions for The Multimedia Group of Canada.
