New training program at Banff

Digital content creators looking to forge relationships in the industry are being called on to apply to a new program at the Banff World Television Festival.

Sponsored by Telefilm Canada, the Content Creators Fellowship Program is designed to help up-and-coming producers develop their knowledge, increase their contacts and interact with key players in the digital and television content business.

The program includes free registration for this year’s Banff and nextMedia festivals, in addition to accommodation and travel.

‘This initiative demonstrates a firm commitment to developing emerging content creators and helping them to connect with industry leaders,’ said Earl Hong Tai, Telefilm’s director of the western region, in a release.

‘Creating these kinds of opportunities for Canadian talent continues to be a key objective for this festival,’ added Banff executive director Jennifer Harkness.

The winners will be selected from a jury comprised of Mark Greenspan of Achilles Media, a representative from the Banff Television Festival Foundation, and an industry representative.

The deadline for applications is April 10. Additional information is available at www.banff2008.com. The festival runs June 8-11.
