CFC brings back Western lab

The Whistler Film Festival, together with Telefilm Canada and the Canadian Film Centre, is again hosting a week-long lab for producers in Western Canada. The second annual CFC Go West Project Lab, set for June 15-19 in Whistler, is billed as an intense course in creative and business matters, intended to move forward dramatic features that have U.S. and international appeal.

‘We’re proud to be offering this initiative for a second year,’ said Kathryn Emslie, director of CFC’s film and television programs, in a statement, adding that the lab ‘offers a distinct professional opportunity for producers to build new business and creative partnerships internationally.’

There are spots for up to six producers, who may enter up to three projects for consideration. Each will get individual and project-specific feedback from sales agents, distributors and other experts. Applications are due April 8, open to producers from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon.
