Tracey Fragments set for U.S.

ThinkFilm is hoping the buzz surrounding Halifax thesp and Oscar nominee Ellen Page will help draw audiences to the U.S. release of The Tracey Fragments, which will bow in New York on May 9.

Tracey will have its New York premiere as part of the ‘Canadian Front’ film series at the Museum of Modern Art on March 14, prior to its theatrical release. A national release will follow, according to ThinkFilm.

Page plays a troubled teenager on a search for her missing brother in the drama directed by Toronto’s Bruce McDonald (Hard Core Logo). She’s up for best actress at Sunday’s Academy Awards for her role as a pregnant teenager in Jason Reitman’s indie sensation Juno.

The film was named one of the top 10 Canadian films last year by the Toronto International Film Festival, and is also up for six Genies, including nods for Page and McDonald. Tracey is produced by McDonald’s Shadow Shows in association with Corvid and Alcina Pictures.
