Cookie Jar to launch clothing line

Cookie Jar Entertainment and L.A.-based design studio Mighty Fine have partnered to produce a retro clothing line aimed at young adults and inspired by the work of well-known children’s author and illustrator Richard Scarry.

The clothing line, launched under Cookie Jar’s new Vintage Richard Scarry brand, will include knits, fashion T’s and fleece, and will feature book favorites like Lowly Worm and his apple car, Huckle Cat, Sally Cat and Pig Will and Pig Won’t.

To date, more than 150 million copies of Scarry’s books have been sold in 30 different languages. Cookie Jar is looking to capitalize on the books’ worldwide popularity by searching out merchandise partners in a number of categories, including accessories, giftware, social expressions and stationery.

Cookie Jar also produces Hurray For Huckle!, a series based on Richard Scarry’s books. The show currently airs on CBC and has been licensed to networks throughout western and eastern Europe, Scandinavia and South Africa.
