CTV and its sister channels will run 10 hours of programming this Sunday, leading up to its coverage of the 80th annual Academy Awards.
The network said Tuesday it will air six back-to-back eTalk Oscar specials, starting at 2:30 p.m. and including spotlights on Canadian-made short film contender I Met the Walrus and Halifax’s Ellen Page, nominated star of Juno. The specials will give way to the red carpet pre-show, eTalk at the Oscars, at 6:30 p.m. (All times Eastern.)
The official red carpet, hosted by Regis Philbin, with cohosts Samantha Harris (Dancing with the Stars) and Shaun Robinson (Access Hollywood), airs at 8 p.m., leading up to the big show at 8:30 p.m., which will again be hosted by Jon Stewart.
Programming is also set for Star!, FashionTelevisionChannel, MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic, CTV Newsnet, CP24 and ctv.ca. Special features can be found at oscars.ctv.ca.
On Monday, Feb. 25, Canada AM will cover highlights. That evening, eTalk will air post-awards coverage.
Last year’s Oscars peaked at nearly six million viewers on CTV and reached 10.6 million Canadians, making it the most-watched television program of the year.
