Cineplex Entertainment has put $1 million into the Canadian Film Centre, and picked up some naming rights in the process. The theater chain on Thursday revealed the five-year donation to CFC, which has renamed its noted film program as the Cineplex Entertainment Film Program. The company has also set up a scholarship of $100,000 to aid one student in the program — per year ‘in perpetuity.’
CFC executive director Slawko Klymkiw says the investment ‘will enable us to continue to offer the highest level of training and professional expertise to aspiring talent in the industry.’
The funds ‘will directly support the work of young Canadian filmmakers,’ added Cineplex president and CEO Ellis Jacob, in a statement. ‘We look forward to seeing their work on our screens across the country.’
