Shaftesbury Films and its growing slate of productions have new representation in the U.S. following a deal with the William Morris Agency.
The agreement, announced Tuesday, was brokered by Shaftesbury SVP Scott Garvie and Jeff Alpern of The Alpern Group, and follows a deal, closed earlier this week, in which William Morris sold 13 episodes of the Shaftesbury series The Listener to NBC.
Alpern, who had been repping Shaftesbury for more than 10 years, brought the Toronto production house to the attention of the Beverly Hills agency. According to a release, Alpern felt that the busy prodco needed a full-service agency to tend to its robust slate of productions.
‘We are very excited about this partnership with Shaftesbury Films,’ commented William Morris co-head of worldwide television Mark Itkin. ‘By joining forces with Shaftesbury Films, we will help to expose their already successful product to a much wider audience in the United States.’
‘Shaftesbury Films has a strong track record in the international market and this partnership with William Morris will help strengthen our ties in the U.S. market,’ added Shaftesbury chair and co-CEO Christina Jennings.
