Equinoxe Films has hired Karynn Austin and sent her to its Toronto office as its director of distribution and marketing. The new position will see Austin oversee all marketing for the Montreal company’s theatrical and home releases in English Canada.

‘I’m looking forward to the challenge of making our films stand out in the marketplace,’ said Austin in a statement.

Austin had a similar job at her previous post, TVA Films, which at about this time last year promoted her to head of distribution for English Canada. She previously held high positions at C/FP Distribution and Malofilm.

Upcoming titles from Equinoxe include Gillian Armstrong’s Death Defying Acts, a 1920s-set thriller with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Guy Pierce as Harry Houdini; and Dennis Lee’s drama Fireflies in the Garden, starring Julia Roberts and Willem Dafoe.
