• At Alliance Films, Mark Slone has been upped to SVP of Odeon Films. Formerly SVP of marketing and publicity, he is now responsible for U.S., Canadian and international theatrical releases.

Meanwhile, Michael Rudnitsky has been appointed EVP of theatrical distribution, taking charge of all Alliance Films’ Canadian theatrical sales. He previously worked at MGM in Los Angeles and prior to that at Miramax Films in New York. Both Slone and Rudnitsky will be based in Toronto.

• Dominque Bazay is the new VP of programming at VRAK.TV, as of Feb. 11, jumping to the French-language youth channel after nine years in distribution at Decode Entertainment. Bazay will head up all programming operations, reporting to PVP Marie Collin.

• Mike Metatawabin is now chairperson of the board at APTN, following the channel’s AGM last month. Metatawabin brings more than 13 years media experience and has served on the APTN board since last May. He takes over for outgoing chair Shirley Adamson.

• Summerhill Entertainment has promoted Lee Herberman to president, up from executive producer. He will oversee Summerhill’s business activities and help the company branch out into new areas of programming. Herberman has been in the industry for over three decades, previously with Headline Sports and CBC, where he won a Gemini Award, exec producing sportscasts such as the Grey Cup.

• David Miller has left his post as director of creative and business development at Channel Zero after two and a half years. Miller moves on to focus on production duties with his own company, DRM Productions, as well as continuing work with Poor Man’s Productions. He is one of the producers of the award-winning feature Amal.
