Disney branches out

The newest channel from Astral Media has piqued the interest of carriers including Cogeco Cable, Mountain Cablevision, Access Communications and SaskTel, which have all signed on for its preschool channel Playhouse Disney.

The commercial-free channel, aimed at kids aged 2-7, is already available on the systems with the exception of Regina-based SaskTel, which will launch the service on Feb. 21. Until now, Playhouse Disney had only been available to Bell ExpressVu subscribers following its launch in November. The latest additions give the channel an audience reach of over one million.

‘We’re thrilled that Cogeco Cable, Mountain Cablevision, SaskTel and Access Communications recognize the unique entertainment and value proposition that Playhouse Disney offers subscribers,’ commented Family VP and GM Joe Tedesco in a release.

Playhouse Disney’s roster of children’s series includes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger & Pooh, Little Einsteins, Franny’s Feet, The Secret World of Benjamin Bear and Bunnytown.
