Coolroom to carry Nelvana titles

Nelvana has signed a deal with U.K.-based digicaster Coolroom, making some 650 hours of programming including Babar and Rupert available for download. The titles will be available for rent or purchase, starting at ₤0.60 per episode, roughly $1.18.

The programs will go online ‘shortly,’ according to Nelvana, available only to U.K. residents. The deal also covers titles from other companies — such as Studio B’s Being Ian and Class of the Titans — that are represented by Nelvana.

The site also offers sport, music and movie downloads, including old and new titles such as Knocked Up and American Pie. This is the first deal of its kind it has struck for kids fare. The shows are also accessible through PCs with certain versions of Windows XP and Vista.

‘Coolroom provides an innovative, industry leading platform for us to reach our audience in new and exciting ways,’ said Nelvana president Doug Murphy in a release.
