Peace Arch Entertainment is taking a run at ContentFilm, and has put in a $35-million bid to buy the U.K.-based media giant.
The Toronto company said on Thursday it has put in a non-binding letter of intent to acquire ContentFilm, though the process is still in its early stages and has not seen a formal commitment from either side.
‘Peace Arch’s proposed acquisition of ContentFilm would create an asset-rich, vertically integrated film, television and home entertainment company with significant strengths in Canada, the US and abroad,’ said Peace Arch CEO Jeff Sagansky in a statement.
ContentFilm has three divisions: ContentFilm International, which handles film sales and financing; Fireworks International, which boasts a library of some 2,000 hours of programming; and U.S.-based DVD distributor Allumination FilmWorks.
Sagansky noted that the buy stands to ‘substantially expand Peace Arch’s library of proprietary film and television titles, create one of the strongest independent feature film sales companies in the business, and make Peace Arch one of the top international suppliers of high quality television programming.’
