SaskFilm vet joins NFB

Heritage Minister Josée Verner has named former SaskFilm board member and media relations veteran Mary-Lynn Charlton to the National Film Board.

A former reporter, Charlton has been active in the communications industry since 1989, when she established her public relations firm Charlton Communications in Regina. She has also worked for the CBC, the University of Regina, and the government of Saskatchewan. Charlton will sit on the board of trustees.

‘I’m delighted to welcome Ms. Charlton to the National Film Board of Canada. I am confident the NFB will greatly benefit from her expertise and knowledge of cultural industries,’ said Verner in a release.

Meanwhile, Verner last week also appointed former SaskTel staffer Candice J. Molnar as regional commissioner for the CRTC, representing Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She will deal in both broadcasting and telecommunications.

Molnar worked at telecommunications giant SaskTel for more than 20 years in a variety of roles, including general manager of customer services.

‘She possesses extensive experience in policy and regulatory matters, including provincial and federal telecommunications regulation,’ said Verner, noting that Molnar’s experience will help the CRTC in carrying out its mandate.
