• Rogers Media is buying the Outdoor Life Network from its partners CTVglobemedia and Versus, taking the one-third share owned by each in the sporty cable channel. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008, according to a statement issued by the Toronto media conglom, and is subject to CRTC approval. Financial details of the separate agreements with CTVgm and Versus, a U.S.-based cable and satellite sportscaster, were not revealed.
• Super Channel has inked a deal with content giant IMG Media, based in the U.K. and New York, for sports, comedies, dramas and factual entertainment. Included in the deal are Benidorm, a comedy from Britain; Ruddy Hell! It’s Harry and Paul, a sketch series featuring two U.K. comics; Roman’s Empire, a comedy about a self-made multimillionaire; Bollywood Bosses, which chronicles the Indian movie industry; and King of Miami, which follows comedian Dave Hill’s bid to reign over the Florida city. The newly launched pay-TV channel has also picked up two feature titles – John Kalangis’ Love Is Work and The Overlookers by Christopher Smets – from Sullivan Entertainment.
• Decode Enterprises has closed several deals for Poko. Discovery Kids has snagged the Spanish-language rights in the U.S. for seasons one through three, while Discovery Kids Latin America has season three in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The stop-motion preschool show has also gone to Italy’s RaiSat, Polmedia’s Mini Mini, Turkish digital broadcasting platform DigiTurk, Hong Kong’s ATV, Korea’s digital satellite Skylife, Pacific Bridge and Australia’s ABC2.
