Citytv wants Less

Winnipeg is hosting the 13 x 30 shoot of Less Than Kind, a new comedy for the Citytv station group from Breakthrough Films & Television and locals Buffalo Gal Pictures. It is set to air next fall, following a teen boy as he struggles with being ‘too Jewish, too fat and too smart’ to fit in with his own family.

Jesse Camacho (St. Urbain’s Horseman) and Maury Chaykin are attached to appear, working with director Shawn Alex Thompson (Puppets Who Kill), who will helm the opening episodes. The series comes from writers Marvin Kaye and Chris Shesgreen, and is produced by Breakthrough’s Ira Levy and Peter Williamson, Buffalo Gal’s Phyllis Laing and comic Mark McKinney.

‘It’s a top-notch comedy with a big heart,’ said Diane Boehme, head of indie production at the Citys, in a statement. Breakthrough will distribute.
