Corus Entertainment has promoted Erica Benson to VP of programming for both Movie Central and its digichannel Scream and, in a similar move, has bumped Ted Ellis to the VP suite at both CMT and Max Trax.
Benson moves up from a post as director of programming at MC and will oversee all scheduling and original production for Movie Central, its Encore sister channels and Scream. Benson has since last month been filling in for the pay-TV channel’s ousted creative head Shelley Gillen, who was among the highest-ranked casualties of the recent layoffs at Corus.
Ellis, previously director of programming for CMT, is now VP of programming and production at the country cable channel. He will also oversee programming and business operations at the Corus digital audio outlet, max Trax.
Before joining MC, Benson headed Canadian production at its western counterpart The Movie Network. Ellis joined CMT four years ago, before which he was president of Media Giants Entertainment.
