Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman says the network is merely postponing the upcoming season of 24 and that, contrary to a story that appeared last week in The Hollywood Reporter, its seventh run has not been cancelled because of the WGA strike.
According to more recent published reports, Beckman says 24 will run when the strike is over, whenever that may be.
‘The series has not been cancelled — the new season has simply been postponed due to the writers strike,’ says Barbara Williams, SVP programming and production at CanWest MediaWorks, which carries 24 on Global.
Global also responded to a Nov. 9 report in Media in Canada that said the series has lost its ratings luster, noting that season six was ‘up year over year 17% among adults 18-49 nationally and was the clear time-period winner in all markets.’
