Bell has teamed up with Cineplex Entertainment to launch Mobile Movie Ticketing, a new service that allows cell phone customers to purchase tickets directly from their hand-held devices. Cell phone users can now send a free text message — with the word ‘tickets’ to the short code ‘jump’ — to receive a link to the purchase page.

‘For the first time ever, clients can look up the movie they want to see, find the theater location closest to them and purchase their tickets on their Bell Mobility phones,’ commented Cineplex spokesperson Pat Marshall upon revealing the deal.

The mobile tickets appear in the form of a bar code on a cell phone, which can be scanned at a scanning kiosk at any Cineplex theater. The technology was developed by Calgary-based entertainment service company RepeatSeat.
