Mandel joins Gemini party

Howie Mandel will add some star power to the Gemini Awards on Sunday. The host of Deal or No Deal and a handful of other notables will be at the 22nd annual TV fete this weekend in Regina, thanks to one of the stars on Dragon’s Den.

Mandel, who is up for the CBC Viewers’ Choice award, and others are being flown in courtesy of businessman Jim Treliving, a panel member on the CBC reality show Dragon’s Den.

‘A jet provided by Treliving is flying from Los Angeles to Regina and back to make sure Canadians working elsewhere in the world are able to make it to the Gemini Awards,’ confirmed CBC spokesperson Julie Booth.

Other celebrities making the trip to the Queen City include Jason Priestley, Kathleen Robertson, Andrea Roth, Russell Peters, and James Tupper and Anne Heche of Men in Trees fame. The Geminis, hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos, will air Sunday at 8 p.m. on CBC, following an ET Canada red-carpet preshow on Global.
