Recognizing his ‘strong support of his fellow Canadians’ in Los Angeles, ACTRA will on Tuesday present its Award of Excellence to Kiefer Sutherland.
‘Kiefer, as a Canadian actor working in the U.S., has built one of the most successful careers in Hollywood,’ said Richard Hardacre, ACTRA National president, in a statement. ‘It’s an honor to recognize him not only for his unique work, but for his strong support of his fellow Canadian actors in Los Angeles.
‘He values his Canadian roots as evidenced by his support and encouragement of the industry.’
Hardacre is scheduled to present the prize to the 24 star at the residence of the consul general of Canada in L.A., Alain Dudoit. The award is handed out every two years to a member working predominantly in L.A.. In 2005, it went to Tonya Lee Williams of The Young and the Restless.
Sutherland, the son of Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas, returns to air in January with the seventh season of 24, broadcast locally on Global Television.
