Distraction has signed an exclusive deal to represent formats from CBC’s factual entertainment wing, starting next month at MIPCOM with The Next Great Leader.
The format, originally produced here as The Next Great Prime Minister, puts young adults up against a panel of former national leaders in a bid to win a five-figure cash prize and a Magna-Dominion-Fulbright internship. It has aired twice, first on CTV before moving to the Ceeb, where it returned earlier this year to a solid 865,000 viewers.
‘This entertaining political game show was a big hit with Canadian viewers,’ said Julie Bristow, CBC’s head of factual entertainment, in a release, going on to note that Distraction will be the exclusive representative of her department’s formats overseas. Distraction is headquartered in London, and has offices in Montreal, Los Angeles, Sydney and elsewhere.
