$30,000 – The Toronto-City Award for Best Canadian Feature Film: Presented annually to a Canadian filmmaker, this award is sponsored jointly by Citytv and the City of Toronto.
$15,000 – Citytv Award for Best Canadian First Feature Film: Presented annually to a Canadian filmmaker for an exemplary first feature.
$10,000 – Short Cuts Canada Award: Films in the Short Cuts Canada program are eligible for this prize.
$10,000 – CFTPA Feature Film Producer’s Award: Presented in partnership with TIFF, the award goes to a Canadian producer (with a feature in TIFF official selection) whose body of work demonstrates commitment and passion for the profession.
These awards are selected by jury:
The feature film jury (for Toronto-City and Citvy awards) consists of actor Colm Feore (Bon Cop, Bad Cop), filmmaker Jennifer Baichwal (Manufactured Landscapes), Olivier Pere, artistic director of the Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival and producer Roger Frappier (La grande séduction, Jésus de Montréal).
The CFTPA award’s jury is chaired by Steve Hegyes (Brightlight Pictures) and includes David Hamilton (Hamilton-Mehta Productions), Luc Déry (micro_scope), Peter Sussman (Aver Media), and director Lynne Stopkewich (Suspicious River).
The short film jury members are What It’s Like Being Alone series creator Brad Peyton, Showcase director of original production Rachel Fulford, and programmer Stefanie Schulte Strathaus of the International Forum of New Cinema, Berlin International Film Festival.
Prizes will be presented at the festival’s awards reception on Saturday, Sept. 15.
