Gags goes to Germany

Just for Laughs has sold the syndication rights to its half-hour hidden camera hit Just for Laughs Gags to RTL. Germany’s largest broadcaster picked up the option on 50 episodes of the no-language show, set to start airing on Sept. 3.

The deal comes shortly after two milestones for JFL. Gags recently premiered in the U.S. on ABC and is currently the network’s top-rated summer program. The Just for Laughs festival, a Montreal institution, also announced just last month that they would break new ground with the first ever World Comedy Conference during the 2008 fest to discover new talent and bring the brightest lights of the comedy industry together under one roof.

‘We’re thrilled to be pairing up with RTL,’ said Pierre Girard, executive producer of Gags, in a press release. ‘Their programming team has the greatest sense of humour in the industry.’
