It appears more American teens favor Degrassi: The Next Generation over any other TV show this time of year, as the Epitome Pictures series picked up a Teen Choice Award on Sunday for ‘Choice Summer TV Show.’
Degrassi: TNG, which airs on teen-aimed The N south of the border, beat out U.S. primetime series including America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, The Singing Bee and Don’t Forget the Lyrics. It’s Degrassi: TNG‘s second Surfboard, the statue of choice for the teen fete, after its win in the same category in 2005.
‘This fantastic win comes at a really exciting time for us as the series gears up for daily syndication throughout the U.S. starting just next week,’ said Degrassi: TNG executive producer Stephen Stohn in a release.
Stohn and co-executive producer Linda Schuyler of Epitome Pictures are currently shooting the 24-ep seventh season of Degrassi, set to premiere on CTV later this year.
The show has been licensed in Britain, France, the U.S. and Australia by AAC Kids, an Alliance Atlantis division.
