• The National Film Board has appointed Claude Joli-Coeur as assistant commissioner at the NFB. Joli-Coeur, who was interim commissioner prior to the arrival of Tom Perlmutter, will also remain director of business affairs and legal services, a position he has held since joining the NFB in 2003. Also at the board, Luisa Frate is the new administration director, taking over for Maryse Charbonneau, who has retired after 22 years.
• Emmy winner Susie Grondin has been tapped as in-house producer for animation house Cookie Jar Entertainment. Grondin will work in Toronto on new series including the preschool show Will & Dewitt. She will report to Cookie Jar VP of production Pamela Slavin.
• Blueprint Entertainment has promoted Elizabeth Madariaga and is sending her to Toronto as its executive director of development. The new position will see her develop primetime and children’s series, reporting to Brenda Greenberg, the Toronto-based VP of creative affairs, and L.A.-based Frank Saperstein, SVP of animation and kids programming.
• Veteran broadcast journalist Michel Morin is now a commissioner of the CRTC, following an official nod by former heritage minister Bev Oda.
• Sherali Najak is the new senior producer for Hockey Night in Canada, stepping in for Joel Darling, who has been promoted to director of production for CBC Sports.
