New originals on Much, MuchMore

Original productions including the interview-y Popaganda and The Totally Untrue History of…, a collection of fake news about musicians and celebrities, have found a place on the schedules of MuchMusic and its grown-up sibling MuchMoreMusic, which recently revealed their plans for fall.

Much’s schedule includes two new original series, plus its recent acquisitions So You Think You Can Dance? and The O.C.

The mocku-series The Totally Untrue History of… debuts Monday at 8 p.m. ET — weaving tall tales about celebrities such as Hilary Duff, Usher, Eminem and Jessica Simpson through testimonials, interviews and images. It will be followed on Wednesday by Stars Gone Wild, an original 15 x 30 about celebs such as 50 Cent, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton getting into trouble with the law and throwing public hissy fits.

MuchMusic is also set to air four back-to-back seasons of The O.C. weekdays at 4 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. ET, starting Monday, along with the third run of So You Think You Can Dance, due Sept. 2 in the Sunday 6 p.m. ET slot.

The channel also has two imported series featuring New York hip-hop DJ Funkmaster Flex. All Muscle with Funkmaster Flex debuted on Sunday and will be followed in October by Car Wars with Funkmaster Flex.

New seasons of returning series include: Video on Trial and MuchOnDemand. Of course, concerts and specials are in the works and have yet to be named. Friday nights will also feature MuchMovies.

Elsewhere on the dial, and aiming for the 18 to 49 demo, MuchMoreMusic rolled out Tip of My Tongue on Sunday. The original quiz show tests viewers on useless pop-culture knowledge and combines pop-up video trivia with text messaging. Standings will be listed at MuchMoreMusic.com.

It will be followed Monday by the 10 x 60 Popaganda at 10 p.m. ET. The series interviews experts, musicians and celebs, seeking answers to questions such as why we’re obsessed with dead rock stars, if there’s such a thing as a musical sell-out, and whether you can be too rich or too thin.

Other new shows on the MuchMore fall slate include: Gene Simmons: Family Jewels (Sundays at 8 p.m. ET), Celebrity Fit Club (Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET) and Mission: Man Band, which takes four boy-band legends — members of Color Me Badd, LFO, NSYNC and 98 Degrees — and makes them live together and perform as a new pop group. Its debut is TBA.

The channel also has Rock Life, a rockumentary series following the sons of Roy Orbison and Lou Adler as they strive for a hit record in L.A., and Live from Abbey Road (Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET), a one-hour show showcasing top bands and songwriters in the world-renowned music studio.
