Morin in at CRTC

Veteran broadcast journalist Michel Morin has been tapped as a commissioner of the CRTC, effective Monday, following the recent, official nod by Heritage minister Bev Oda.

The Montreal-based Morin, whose career has spanned more than 34 years, worked as a journalist, foreign correspondent, economic news editor and, most recently, as chief editor of TV news for Radio-Canada and the French-language news network RDI.

‘Mr. Morin is recognized for his talent as a natural leader with remarkable skills in persuasion and delegation. He is a seasoned journalist, and his broadcasting credentials will make a strong contribution to the CRTC,’ said Oda in a release.

He will hold the post through 2012.

Oda also recently announced the appointment of marketing guru Anne-Marie Applin as member of the NFB. Applin is founder and president of Toronto-based Applin Marketing and Communications, and recently completed a six-year term on the TVOntario board of directors.

Oda praised Applin’s commitment to arts and culture, noting she will be ‘an outstanding asset to the NFB.’
