Space sets dates

Space has unveiled its plans for fall and will premiere Blood Ties — the supernatural crime copro from Toronto’s Kaleidoscope Entertainment and Vancouver’s Insight Film Studios — in its Friday 9 p.m. ET time-slot, beginning Sept. 14, following the special Blood Ties: Behind the Scenes on Sept. 9.

Kyle XY — about a boy with no belly button and some strange abilities to compensate for it — will hit the Tuesday 9 p.m. ET time-slot, starting on Sept. 18. The Vancouver-shot series is carried in the U.S. by ABC Family.

Other sci-fi series hitting the Space schedule include the CHUM-produced Grand Star, which follows the survivors of a new ice age on Earth, on Saturdays at 7:30 ET p.m. starting Sept. 22; the Sci-Fi Channel’s Destination Truth documentary series, Sundays at 7 p.m. ET from Sept. 16; and Surface, a U.S. series about a new form of sea life that begins to appear all over the Earth, premiering on Sept. 13 in the Thursday 9 p.m. ET slot.

Space has also picked up Roar, the 1997 series starring a young Heath Ledger and marked for a Sept. 15 premiere. It will run Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET.
