Roma Khanna has landed on her feet, and in London, where she will start work next month for NBC Universal International. The former CHUM exec has been named president of global networks and digital initiatives, reporting to NBC UI president Peter Smith.
According to an internal memo, Khanna will expand the company through local and pan-regional partnerships, creating new channels and by strengthening the content and identities of outlets including Sci-Fi and the suspense-themed 13th Street. She will also oversee the company’s digital initiatives division, looking to create new businesses and content.
‘Roma has an incredibly impressive record of experience and achievement in the television industry,’ said Smith in a statement. ‘Her strong proven leadership skills will be key to realizing our ambitious Global Networks growth plans.’
The appointment follows news that NBC UI plans to launch 20 additional local channels in 23 countries across Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Khanna was SVP of content at CHUM, but left in June following that company’s takeover by CTVglobemedia.
