Proper making Made Me

Proper Television (Canada’s Worst Handyman) is preparing to shoot a new documentary series, TV Made Me Do It. Noting that enrollment in forensics programs has jumped since the debut of CSI, and that sales of Firebird Trans Ams doubled during the mid-’80s run of Knight Rider, the Toronto production house recently put out a call for people whose lives have been altered by what they saw on the tube. It is expected to air this winter on TVtropolis, following a summer/fall shoot in Canada and the U.S.

‘We’re into our fifth or sixth episode in terms of research,’ says Proper boss and exec producer Guy O’Sullivan, noting that each ep will be themed – TV made me a hero, TV made me wreck my house, and so on.

Production is backed by an advance from Channel 4 International, which is handling overseas distribution and may look to sell it as a format. ‘We think we can sell it off as a kit of parts,’ he says.

Proper is also in talks to make a second season of the fact ent Newlywed, Nearly Dead? for Slice, while work continues on the feature doc The Real Superhumans, about real-life people with unusual abilities.
