Mischel opens game shop

Rick Mischel, the former CEO of Mainframe Entertainment, has formed a new video game company, Reach Games, looking to supply art, design and other services to gamemakers around the world, and has tapped Ali Kojori as its general manager.

Kojori, former head of Mainframe’s games division, has ties to companies including Electronic Arts, Rockstar and Radical Entertainment, and has produced titles including Ubisoft’s Heroes of the Pacific and 187 Ride or Die.

‘After a decade at major publishers, I know their need for cost effective, high quality work,’ Kojori said in a Tuesday statement. ‘We plan to meet that need with a best practices, flexible project management approach at Reach.’ The company is headquartered in Vancouver.

Also on the creative team are senior producer Ivan Allen (NBA Live, Need for Speed), formerly of Nokia, and art director Michael Douglas (2006 MTV Movie Awards), who was also formerly at Mainframe. The CG shop was bought and rebranded by Rainmaker Entertainment last year, with Mischel reinstalled as an executive producer. He will stay on at Rainmaker, according to a Reach Games spokesperson.

Reach says it will also codevelop games with other companies. ‘This group as proven their ability to manage an aggressive game production pipeline, ensuring clients meet their release dates,’ said Mischel.
