TSN inks French Open deal

A few days after TSN and sister station CTV signed a three-year broadcast deal with the NFL, the sports specialty on Thursday announced it has acquired exclusive broadcast rights to the French Open for the next four years.

Following a deal with the Fédération Française de Tennis, TSN will provide live coverage of both the men’s and women’s early round matches, round of 16, quarter-finals, semifinals and finals beginning this season through 2010.

TSN’s coverage of the 2007 French Open kicks of this Sunday from Roland Garros with the early-round matches, as Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal looks to become the second male player in French Open history to three-peat as champion, while in the women’s tourney, Serena Williams makes her return after a two-year absence. The French Open women’s final airs June 9 and the men’s final June 10.
