Veteran TV journalist and Business News Network anchor Jim O’Connell died May 3 following a short bout with colon cancer. He was 48.
O’Connell’s career in television took off more than two decades ago with CTV News, for which he reported from Ottawa, Toronto and Winnipeg, and served as bureau chief in Washington and London. He also hosted the CTV investigative news series W-FIVE.
O’Connel joined BNN (previously RobTV) in 1999, where he worked in a senior editorial role, before hosting the network’s flagship program Market Call.
He is survived by his wife Dr. Lisa Ramshaw, a son and stepson.
