Christal Films Productions is coproducing a supernatural thriller with France’s Fidélité Films that will bring John Malkovich, Evangeline Lilly (Lost) and Romain Duris (Molière) to Montreal in July for Afterwards. The $15-million English-language project, to be helmed by Gilles Bourdos (Inquiétudes) will be produced here by Christian Larouche (Sans elle) and Christian Gagné and by Olivier Delbosc and Marc Missonnier of Fidélité.

It stars Duris as an overworked family man who meets a doctor, Malkovich, who claims to be able to predict people’s deaths. Twenty days of shooting in New York will lead to a stay of some 25 days in Montreal, starting July 7. Taiwan’s Mark Lee Ping-bin (In the Mood for Love) is DOP, local Anne Pritchard (The Covenant) is the production designer.
