Jane and the Dragon, Life with Derek and Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends are all up for this year’s ACT awards, just three of the roughly 70 programs, interstitials and websites nominated for the honors from the Alliance for Children and Television.

The nominees include two nods for Derek, which is nominated for its eps ‘Male Code Blue’ and ‘Battle of the Bands’ along with titles including Prank Patrol, The Snow Queen and Naturally, Sadie in the ‘all genres’ category for shows aimed at kids aged 9-12.

The teen category also has a double nom for renedagepress.com, which appears along with Degrassi: The Next Generation, Instant Star and Dark Oracle, among others.

The 3-5 category includes noms for This Is Emily Yeung, Wilbur and Four Square.

Sunny Patch Friends is up for an animation prize, and also scored a nomination with the Canadian New Media Awards, which named the site by Kutoka Interactive in its children category, where it will face Café des Mathadores from TFO and Toopy & Binco from Tribal Nova.

The CNMAs also nominated Shorts in Motion: The Art of Seduction from marblemedia in its cross-platform category, where it will face recent Emmy winners The ReGenesis Extended Reality Game, from Xenophile and Shaftesbury Films, and Zimmer Twins by Zinc Roe New Media.

The CNMAs will be handed out on May 28 in Toronto, followed by the ACT awards on May 31.
