Robson Arms will go into production on a third season this summer, following a green light for another 13 half-hours from CTV, to the delight of producer Brian Hamilton of Vancouver’s Omni Film Productions.
‘We’re feeling very fortunate because there are a lot of other excellent shows that CTV is considering,’ Hamilton tells Playback Daily. ‘We were very hopeful, but I didn’t think it was a sure thing.’
The sitcom, about the quirky residents of a Vancouver low rise, ended its second season on Saturday, drawing a respectable 446,000 viewers to its 9 p.m. timeslot, despite airing opposite the playoffs on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada. In comparison, the show debuted to 333,000 viewers on Feb. 10.
‘It had the strongest ratings of the season within the Saturday slot, so we’re ending on a high note,’ says Hamilton. Some episodes of Robson Arms also aired in weekday timeslots, where it performed well following Corner Gas on Mondays and American Idol on Tuesdays.
Start dates, directors and other details are unconfirmed, according to Hamilton, who says they’re looking forward to welcoming back cast favorites including John Cassini, Gabrielle Miller and Alisen Down.
