Paquin tapped at TFO

Claudette Paquin has been tapped as the new CEO of TFO, stepping in following the French-language educhannel’s split from TVOntario.

Paquin was previously managing director of French programming for TVO, which, until April 1, also controlled TFO. The channel broke from its parent, forming its own board of directors and budget, following a 2005 review by the Ontario government.

‘We are convinced that Ms. Paquin has what it takes… to make TFO a great success,’ said newly named TFO chair Gisèle Chrétien, in a release.

The channel says Paquin’s goals will be to reinforce TFO’s relationship with the educational and Franco-Ontarian communities. The channel — formally L’Office de télécommunication éducatives de langue français de l’Ontario — is the country’s only French-language broadcaster operating outside of Quebec.
