CTV races ahead with Drive

Pulling ahead of its partners at Fox, CTV will debut its new action drama Drive two days ahead of its U.S. debut — putting the two-hour debut of the mid-season car race series on Friday at 8 p.m.

The series by exec producers Tim Minear (The Inside, Wonderfalls) and Ben Queen follows a group of strangers who join a sinister cross-country race in pursuit of a $32-million grand prize, though they aren’t told who they’re racing against or where the finish line is.

It stars Canucks Kristin Lehman (G-Spot, Lie with Me) and Nathan Fillion (White Noise 2, Slither) along with Taryn Manning (Weirdsville) and others.

Fox is doing a two-night, three-hour debut for the show, running two hours on Sunday and a third on Monday. In Canada, the third hour will air when Drive settles into its Friday 9 p.m. slot on April 20, taking over for Close to Home and running opposite Las Vegas on Global and the NHL playoffs on CBC.
