Jetix picks up Flamingo

Breakthrough Animation has signed a licensing deal with Jetix Europe for the second season of its Captain Flamingo toon. Jetix has picked up the pay-TV, TV distribution, home video and consumer product rights to the series for Europe and the Middle East.

The 52 x 30 series is a copro by the Toronto animation house with Heroic Film Company, Atomic Cartoons and PASI Animation, and airs domestically on YTV.

Captain Flamingo has a strong comedy core that resonates with kids, 8-11, on a global basis,’ said Breakthrough exec Kevin Gillis in a release. ‘This is the demographic that forms the core of strength of Jetix Europe’s audience.’ The company runs 11 TV channels aimed at 6-14s in 58 countries.
